Description of our farm

Our Farm

We are located on 10 acres in south central Pennsylvania, halfway between Mechanicsburg and Carlisle, a few miles west of Harrisburg.  When we moved here, we built our barn and developed our pastures to accommodate our horses.  With a few adjustments, the property is now perfect for our alpacas.  Approximately 6 acres is in fenced pasture and we have additional open areas suitable for future use for grazing.

We have a 4 stall, center-aisle barn, constructed of insulated T1-11 siding.  The interior sides of the stalls have been lowered so that our alpacas have a clear view of the interior of the barn.  The outside doors are Dutch doors—we are able to shut the top halves in bad weather and still allow the animals to have easy access.  Each stall leads to a porch with an overhang, then to a small paddock which is a dry lot area.  Through a system of gates and lanes, each paddock leads to several pasture areas.  All of our developed pastures are visible from the house and a set of binoculars is always at hand—convenient when we are on cria watch.  We also have a field shelter in one of our boys' pastures to allow for future expansion of our herd.

We think that our alpacas find our barn very comfortable as they spend a good amount of time in the area of their stalls and porches.

While we will offer agistment for any alpacas purchased from our farm, we otherwise offer boarding only for yearling boys and geldings.  Our rates are $90 per month for the first animal, with a reduction of $10/month for each additional animal from the same owner to a maximum for 4 animals/$300 per month.

We welcome individual visitors and small groups.  We have worked hard to make our little farm comfortable for both people and animals and we would love to show you around.  Please call ahead to make sure that we are here.
